Is it difficult for you to enjoy the moment because you are “in your own head”?
Is it difficult for you to take action?
Does it seem to take you a long time to make decisions?
Have you worried about something for hours on end, only for it to resolve itself?
Do you try to strategize for all possible outcomes in a situation?
Does your mind automatically jump to the worst-case scenario?
Do you find that you sometimes make mistakes because you were distracted by your thoughts?
Do you feel overwhelmed by your thoughts?
Maybe you have already recognized that worry is preventing you from enjoying your life,
but you just can’t seem to stop.
We often think that our worry has a purpose: to anticipate danger and protect from it. However, when our worries don’t include imminent physical threats, our minds can fill that space with worries about potential problems. You may believe that you need to worry to protect yourself but, the truth is, worrying is probably not preventing the future problems. Rather, it is causing you stress and draining you of precious mental and emotional energy.
At Pro Therapy Center, we understand the power and function of worry. We also know how painful and frustrating it can be. As you may have already discovered, “just talking” about a worry is not so effective. After solving one worry, another seems to follow right behind it. That is why we are passionate about addressing the conflicts and patterns at the root of the worrying.
By using a blend of educational, mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral, and assertiveness approaches, our clients gain more awareness of themselves, understanding of their fears, control of their thinking patterns, and confidence to better address life’s problems as they present themselves.
