Therapy for Self-Esteem Challenges

Do you maintain boundaries within relationships and with work?

Do you believe you are “enough”?

Do you believe you are worthy of good things?

Do you believe your time, energy, and opinions are as valuable as others?

Do you pursue your goals and dreams?

Do you express your thoughts, needs, and expectations?

Are you able to identify 5 or more positive traits about yourself?

If you answered “no” to any of the above questions, you may benefit from increased self-esteem.

Low self-esteem isn’t just uncomfortable.

It can contribute to relationship problems, anxiety, and depression.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is extremely effective at addressing low self-esteem. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) focuses on-

  1. increasing your awareness of your thoughts,
  2. identification of your feelings and how they react to your thoughts,
  3. recognition of maladaptive thinking (untrue beliefs about self),
  4. thought-challenging (looking at your thoughts objectively), and
  5. thought-changing (reshaping negative thinking patterns).

The above process is known as Cognitive Restructuring and it is a core component of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). The goal isn’t to see the glass as half full or “look on the bright side”. The goal is to become conscious of your thoughts and ensure that they are accurate and balanced (rather than inaccurate and overly negative).

We may believe that our negative thoughts are neutral, but the truth is, they impact our beliefs about ourselves and the world around us.

At Pro Therapy Center, we are skilled at Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and would love help you to develop healthy self-esteem, increase your assertiveness, and enjoy your life.
